Friday Feature -- Whimsy By Jess

I'm delighted to interview Whimsy By Jess as this week's featured Etsy artistan. She's a fellow member of both Etsykids and Etsymom. Jess is a very talented fiber artist, and her customer service is simply fantastic.

Tell me two (or more!) interesting things about you.

I had both of my babies at home. That's something about myself that I'm proud of and that some people may find interesting. Both of their births were incredible experiences and I'm so glad I made that choice for my little guys. Another thing is that I'm really into health and learning new things about nutrition and healthy living.

What do you sell in your Etsy shop?

I mostly sell crocheted toys and accessories for kids and women.

What inspires your creations?

I have to say nature is a major inspiration. There is just so much beauty to pull from.

Tell me a bit about your creative process and/or how you learned to do what you do.

I learned to crochet from my great-grandmother when I was very young. I put the skill aside for years but I was able to quickly reteach myself later because of that early learning. I often dabble in many crafts, then just stick with the ones I enjoy most.

What is your favorite item in your shop (currently for sale or previously sold)? Why is it your favorite?

That's kinda hard to answer. I've made lots of favorites! Right now I think the Bee Crown I recently made is really fun and the colors of the yarn look beautiful together.

What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?

Inspired, creative, happy :-)

What do you like about Etsy?

I love that it makes selling on the internet accessible to anyone!

What makes your shop unique?

I think my style is unique. The colors I choose, the way things are put together, the materials I use. It's all unique to my personality.

What advice do you have for other folks selling or buying on Etsy?

Keep creating things you love and others will love them too. And the more often you list items the more people will see your creations.

Where else can we find out more about you and/or your creations?

Here are a few places you can learn more about me:

Note from Jen: I'm the proud owner of this beautifully made custom hat made by Jess -- I'd seen her charming tree hats some time ago, but I don't wear a lot of green, so I asked her if she could make one in blue. She cheerfully obliged. I'd hoped to have a pic of myself wearing the hat, but I look like death's leftovers this week so it just ain't gonna happen. Here's the pic she took for the custom listing, which will have to suffice. Isn't it cute?
